Freedom of creativity

I love the freedom creativity gives.
In every new project that comes my way....knowing I can create anything however I like gives such a feeling of freedom it's hard to contain the excitement!!
Creating rings with complete freedom of choice.....bows, crochet flowers the choices are endless is you see the freedom in it.
Playing around with neutral tones - white on white
Even baking allows freedom and creativity, shaping a scone however you like and seeing the beauty in it's uniqueness
Going crazy with matching fabrics for some boys shorts....
Even right down to the littlest choices creativity gives such freedom!!!!

Repurposed cardi

This weeks project : A pair of trackies for my little rascally girl.

I found one of my old cardigans in my fabric stash that is just perfect and very warm.
So just as I was about finished with the pants my mind wandered to what else I could do? Overalls kept popping into my head and I knew I had just the right stripey flannelette material to match perfectly. So I grabbed an old pair of her overalls, copied and winged the rest.
Well for my very first ever pair of overalls they worked! They actually worked.
My honest husband says they're a bit clowny! Not at all the brighter the better.....right?
I don't have a photo of her in them yet as she is sleeping but I am just too impatient not to write a post about them right away.
So there we go my warm cosy old cardigan which I bought from Chile years ago will now be wrapped up around my most precious little girl. Aaah. Nice.

The first of a flock of birds & some comfy pants.

Bright, Happy Birdies... I really love love love these little birds my aim is to use them in the kids room as a hanging to brighten up there room. I used this free pattern and saw them all together on there perch here.

Here is the first 3. I love how bright & cheerful they are!
This yellow & blue is my favourite combination. No these birds aren't sick just taking a nap.

These pants were done out of my new favourite material a comfy pair of house pants.
I'm a pants girl for sure and these are super comfy with an elasticised waitband.

Bad bad last couple of photos must really improve on that.
Happy sewing everyone!!

An under 1 hour long skirt and other crafty business

My first attempt at making a long skirt for myself was a success.
I got one of my favourite handmade a-line skirts which is knee length and cut the material I chose around it, although using my imagination to make it longer - to my ankles.

I found this material for $15 it's was all up about 2 metres and was sold as a tablecloth. I grabbed it right away (last one in the shop!). Ifind it hard to find unique fabric with good quality cotton at the material shops nearby.
I reckon all up it cost about $10 to make as I have a good amount of fabric left over. YIPPEE!

I made a black stretch waistband which I find most comfortable.

Isn't this a beautiful sight, stuffed blocks in a perrty country basket. Love it!

I'm getting there on these hanging name blocks...next step hand sewing up the gap on each one. I'm not really looking forward to this step I'm not the best hand sewer. Here's some practice for me.

And here's a pair of baby's pants for a friends new baby boy. These are about a size 6-12 months, so there's plenty of time for him to grow into them.

So that's me so far, hope you had a great weekend.

oh boy oh boy

oh boy oh boy my boy has grown!

He's now a big 6 year old! It's funny how big 6 seems, he's now no longer holding onto that 5 and under category where he can still feel like my little boy by only being 5.
6 takes it to a different level.
Sloping roofed gingerbread house, someone call the builder!
So 6 years ago I had my most magical first mothers day by bringing a brand new life into this world, and now 6 yrs later it's fallen on mothers day again. Oh what a most precious gift i was given.
Celebrations were made for a beautiful souled child and thanks were given for allowing me to share in his company everyday. I give thanks to the universe!
On a different note, mending was done on a favourite pair of torn kneed pants.
Good ol knee pads.

Whats old is new

I didn't get any before pictures of the old unfortunately, I was in too much of a hurry to get started (gosh that doesnt sound like me!)

These orange long winter pants for the little rascally girl were made out of an old jumper of mine that was too small for me.

It was a knitted 3/4 sleeve sweater so as knitted is hemmed it creates a flared look which I was thrilled about, a bit of crochet lace I had lying around and tada they're done. Quick as!
It makes me so happy to see an old favourite of mine new again!
These are the rascally boys new pajama pants they were dads old boxers & you know what it's like for a boy to be wearing something just like daddys!!!
Because my boy is such a pocket man I sewed an old pajama pocket of dads onto his boxers. He it so over the moon about them & wants to wear them every night!

A super date night

What a super date me and my rascally boy had last night. He got loads of compliments on his awesome outfit he picked out. Really stood out from the crowd.

Alvin & the Chipmunks was a fun movie to watch. I mostly love to watch my boy watch the movies though. I love his facials and laughter. It really warms my heart.

Then out to a Turkish restaurant after yum yum.

When I got home I couldn't wait to make his 'working pants' as he calls them with the material he picked out yesterday.

I stayed up and finished them and lay them next to his bed so he had a lovely surprise in the morning.

He completely designed these himself told me what he wanted yesterday and picked construction material so they really are 'working pants'. Oh but of course he needs a working shirt too!!! To match!!! Yet another pocket.

My boy is a major pocket lover.

I think they turned out quite funky.

Little rascally girl didn't miss out she got spotty shorts.

Really hard not to get an action shot with this little girl!

Phew

Well I just don't know what was wrong with me today all I did was ironing ironing ironing, but the odd thing is I actually enjoyed it. After ironing the clothes off the line (which I don't usually do) I actually pulled out my cupboard gave half to the charity bag and ironed the rest!!

I'll let you in on a secret of what inspired me.... Have you ever seen a shirt folded like a pro in 2 seconds? well I was shown this today, apparently it's a japanese way of folding which is like origami it's amazing. Pinch here.. pinch there.. pull.. then ta da!! Okay enough enough.

I had a real scare tonight at dinner my 5 year old rascal had a moment of actually seriously choking! Lately he's been keeping food in his mouth for ages and ends up spitting it out, or finds it difficult to swallow, after tonights episode at the dinner table I've decided to take him to the doctor tomorrow. I have a suspicion it's tonsilitis they say you have difficulty swallowing when you have that . Anyway we'll have to wait and see.

We also have Daddy rascals grandma taken to hospital with a red back spider bite (they're around everywhere at the moment), she's in for observation, vomiting, pain in chest all the symptoms. She'll be fine though. She's very Fillipino doesn't speak english or anything and apparently over in the Phillipines they squash spiders with there fingers... so this morning that's exactly what she did!!

Anyway I really need to lighten the load of this incredibly full on day.

Ah that's what we need some finished sewing projects !!!

Baby pants for a friends baby boy, I wanted something not traditionally boyish.

Also this fun to make little bag off the martha stewart website it's reversible and the big strap goes through the little strap to make it secure so nothing falls out.

Better go put my head to the pillow, hope your days weren't anything like mine today! haha

Feeling Spacy

So this blogging thing is really fun isn't it! Now I know why people love to do it. It sort of feels like you're talking to yourself but oh well I'm not that bad to talk to heh heh.

I was doing some clearing out and found a great old spacey sheet and thought I would make the fam some matching pj pants just so we look really really dorky. I managed to do the kids today.
It's so tricky getting the kids to pose perfectly for the camera isn't it? Nevermind this is my sort of perfect & great shots even though they're both wriggly worms. Got one Aaahhh there

I'm also working on my first dress for a dress shop. A lady saw me wearing a dress I made and asked if I could make more for her shop, she said it was just what her customers were looking for. I was just so blown away... little ol me? Anyway this is just the 1st one not finished but this is the general look of the dress.

I'll put the same crochet lace trim around the bottom hem, I just want to keep it simple yet with a hint of elegance.
