Gifts for a sweet little girl
It was my beautiful little neices 1st birthday, so it was the perfect excuse to make something cute. (ha who needs an excuse!)First up a one piece with appliqued butterfly and a skirt.

I had been wanting a pair of pinking shears for a long time and my mum happened to have my grandmas old old pinking shears, well with a spray of the magical WD40 they are perfect.
Next up a little dress with crochet lace and a crochet doily.
I love them and thought how happy my grandma would be if she knew I was getting such joy out of her old scissors.
Now just to see my dear little neice in her new outfits!

A doomed skirt with a happy ending
Thank goodness there is a happy ending to this skirt, it was started 6 months ago and was meant to be a long skirt for my beautiful sister. She had seen the long skirt I made for myself a little while ago which took me 1 afternoon.
Well after cutting it wrong then putting it away hoping it would fix itself then correcting it wrong the again hoping it would fix itself then to a broken overlocker needle then from a long skirt to 3/4 I finally got there exsausted and so happy the tale of the doomed skirt had ended and met its rightful owner.
There are some projects that are meant to be so easy yet turn out to be the hardest for whatever reason. This was one of them. My sister is over the moon about it as she picked the material just for her, and now has a new skirt.
I love the skirt but glad to say goodbye.

Skirts!
On the sewing table this week was 2 wintery mini skirts for my beautiful eldest sister.

Boy it was hard to get a good photo. I'm sure you get the idea.
She went material shopping for some material and her request was my absolute pleasure.
Don't worry they're to be worn over the top of leggings.
She's also bought this beautiful material for a long skirt too, so that will be this weekends project.
And here's some material I was so excited to find I think I'll be making myself a pair of long pants. Gosh I love this fabric!
Hope you have a crafty week!

An under 1 hour long skirt and other crafty business
My first attempt at making a long skirt for myself was a success.
I got one of my favourite handmade a-line skirts which is knee length and cut the material I chose around it, although using my imagination to make it longer - to my ankles.

I found this material for $15 it's was all up about 2 metres and was sold as a tablecloth. I grabbed it right away (last one in the shop!). Ifind it hard to find unique fabric with good quality cotton at the material shops nearby.

I reckon all up it cost about $10 to make as I have a good amount of fabric left over. YIPPEE!

I made a black stretch waistband which I find most comfortable.
Isn't this a beautiful sight, stuffed blocks in a perrty country basket. Love it!

I'm getting there on these hanging name blocks...next step hand sewing up the gap on each one. I'm not really looking forward to this step I'm not the best hand sewer. Here's some practice for me.

And here's a pair of baby's pants for a friends new baby boy. These are about a size 6-12 months, so there's plenty of time for him to grow into them.

So that's me so far, hope you had a great weekend.

A bright cloudy day
A beautiful day of rain. Aahh I just love it.

After school the day was filled with scrapbooking creations, followed by block building.
You can see all the ideas being shouted out there are so many options in block building, now to all settle on one.
Next up pizza making (we did cheat and used gluten free wrap bread as the base...easy)

Here's rascally boys very own handmade pizza, he was so proud of it.
and here's a new creation of mine an elasticised hipster skirt that has such a flattering fall to it, it sits below the knees.
Really cute buttons

Busy build up to christmas
I was pretty busy over the build up to christmas, I thought it would be great if this year I handmade as many gifts as I could for my family. I'd like to share a few favourites I accomplished.
I was really pleased with the way this bag turned out, it's a drawstring knitting bag for my sister.

Also for my new baby niece Summer a name hanging for her nursery then later mum & dad can cut the string and she has some nice soft playing blocks to discover, also for baby Summer a bright little skirt.
Here's a gift I received which I was absolutely thrilled about!! Such a good book I would highly recommend it. I have already made a wrap skirt from it which I altered into something a bit different. I would definately love to share that in a future post.
Until then I wish everyone a happy new years eve.
